The Danish Shipowners’ Accident Insurance Association (UFDS) insures seafarers and other personnel against industrial injuries sustained on board ships sailing under the Danish flag. UFDS is owned by the Danish shipping companies that have taken out insurance with UFDS. For over a century, we have focused on providing industrial injury insurance to the maritime sector under the motto ‘one for all and all for one’. On this website, you will find information about us, our insurance products, how they provide cover, industrial injuries and other forms of compensation.
UFDS provides low-cost insurance with a high level of expertise in the maritime sector.
UFDS insures the shipping companies’ personnel at sea in the event of work-related accidents.
Shipping companies that are members of UFDS have a say in the association’s operations and finances and a share in its profits.
Because your employer has taken out statutory industrial injury insurance with us, this means you are insured by UFDS if you suffer an industrial injury at sea. It is your employer’s duty to report industrial injuries, but it is important that you check whether your employer has in fact done so in your particular case.
