The Danish Shipowners’ Accident Insurance Association was established by a group of Danish shipping companies and is a mutual insurance company structured as an insurance association. However, foreign shipping companies may take out insurance for business conducted on Danish-registered ships.
When a shipping company takes out insurance with UFDS, it becomes a member of the insurance association. This means it has a say in the association’s operations and finances through representation in the Board and as UFDS is not to generate profits/growth for equity interests, members will benefit from UFDS’s financial operations through low premiums.
