As something new, members of UFDS can now also insure their land-based employees through the company, thus gathering their workers' compensation insurance in one place across sea and land.
2025 was a satisfactory year for Danish Shipowners’ Accident Insurance Association, which has generated solid results and consolidated its strong position in a time of uncertainty and low visibility. In addition, we have taken significant steps in a new strategic direction towards 2030
As a key element of the new strategy, we have expanded our value proposition at the beginning of 2026 to also include statutory occupational injury insurance for our members' land-based employees. This is prompted by an increasing demand and a strong desire to create even greater value for the members.
At the same time, it provides new business momentum for growth in our core business. The offer came into effect on 1 January 2026, and we have already signed up a significant business with some of our large members.
»With the expanded value proposition, we want to be the total supplier of workers' compensation insurance both at sea and on land, and it is a great advantage for our members that their employees can receive the same high quality and specialized handling, regardless of their workplace,« CEO of UFDS, Christina Bustrup comments.
Members will be contacted
The land-based industrial injury insurance is offered within UFDS' reciprocal model and is supplemented by optional covers, such as psychological assistance and crisis management. This supports UFDS' ability to continue to act in accordance with the market and fulfil the purpose of the Workers' Compensation Act.
The strategic initiative is an important step in the development of UFDS' value proposition and supports the ambition to create increased value, security and relevance for the members. With the expansion, UFDS builds on its strong foundation as a mutual and member-owned insurance company and strengthens its position as a specialized and competitive player in the field of workers' compensation insurance.
»We have been very much looking forward to launching this offer to members, so that they can have the opportunity to gather their workers' compensation insurance in one place across sea and land. The members can expect to be contacted by UFDS within the coming months, and of course we hope that everyone will accept the offer positively,« Christina Bustrup says.
