The situation in the Middle East means that Danish Shipping has to accept more extra premiums to maintain coverage, resulting in a higher collection for the second half of 2026.

Due to the unsettled situation in the Middle East, Danish Shipping assesses it necessary to increase the contribution to war injury insurance in the second half of 2026, just as the health insurance contribution is increased. The basic premium for industrial injury insurance in UFDS remains unchanged.

The Danish Shipowners’ Accident Insurance Association (UFDS) maintains the basic premium for the workers' compensation insurance of DKK 22 per day of employment in connection with the 2nd advance collection for 2026. The basic premium is thus unchanged compared to 2025.

However, it should be noted that the total collection will still be higher in the second half of 2026. This is partly due to the separate advance contribution to the war damage insurance for seafarers, which UFDS collects on behalf of Danish Shipping, which, as a result of the situation in the Middle East, has had to accept extra premiums on several occasions in order to maintain coverage.

The contribution to the war damage insurance will therefore increase from DKK 0.60 per day of employment in the first half of 2026 to DKK 1.95 in the second half of the year. The increase is expected to be temporary. If conditions normalize as expected, the plan is to reduce the contribution to DKK 0.55 per day of employment for 2027.

In addition, the contribution to the health insurance scheme, which is administered by the Danish Maritime Authority, will be increased from DKK 4.58 per day of employment in the first half of the year to DKK 6.89 in the second half of the year. This is due to the fact that the actual costs of the health insurance scheme have increased in the first eight months of 2026.

The collection for the second half of the year is expected to be sent out on 6 October 2026.
