Jakob Steffensen is the new Manager for Service Delivery in Sedgwick Denmark, thus strengthening the UFDS team, just as he looks forward to meeting the customers.
Since the Danish Shipowners’ Accident Insurance Association outsourced all treatment of occupational injuries and handling of policies to Sedgwick Danmark Inc. in May 2022, the team has continuously been given more muscle in order to handle the dialogue with both injured parties and shipping companies.
Among the latest additions is Jakob Steffensen, who is the new manager of Service Delivery, sporting years of experience from the pension industry. Prior to starting in Sedgwick in April this year, he was customer manager at Velliv for just over four years, and he has previously been with WTW, PFA Pension, Falck Healthcare and AON, among others.
»I have worked with pension schemes and company agreements as an adviser, I have advised companies on their existing schemes and established new ones, I have made tenders for pension schemes, and I have also taught at the Insurance Academy for almost 18 years,« he says.
Originally an insurance broker, Jakob Steffensen sees a string of similarities between the insurance policies in a pension scheme and occupational injury, such as the loss of earning capacity coverage, which is a regular part of pension schemes.
»That's something I think I can build on here in Sedgwick, where I will probably meet a lot of UFDS customers in the long term. So, if and when I get to visit some of the shipping companies, I have some relevant experience in talking to customers,« he says.
Even before his arrival in Sedgwick, Jakob Steffensen knew several members of the UFDS team, with whom he will have daily contact in the future, and in many ways be their approach to Sedgwick.
»I take on my role with great humility, because I know that there are really great qualities in the team already. I will also be responsible for the policy department, and my most important task is to make sure that things continue to run smoothly for the benefit of the members,« Jakob Steffensen says.
